Fashion Revolution Week
Fashion Revolution Week: Why we're participating
On April 24, 2013, the Rana Plaza garment factory collapsed in Bangladesh. Over 1,100 people lost their lives – a shock to the fashion world. Since then, the international Fashion Revolution movement has been demanding greater transparency in the textile industry. We at Airpaq also believe that fairness and responsibility must be made visible . That's why we show you how and where your Airpaq garment is made – and, most importantly, by whom.
Our sewing workshop in Romania: Fair. Local. Personal.
Our production facility is located in Timișoara, Romania . It was founded over 20 years ago by the family of our co-founder Michi – today, around 20 people work there. The proximity to production allows us regular visits and close collaboration. Production adheres to European standards (SA8000 & ISO9000) – fair, safe, and transparent.
#WhoMadeMyAirpaq: Faces behind your backpack
The #WhoMadeMyClothes movement calls for giving a voice to the people behind the fashion. We're joining in with #WhoMadeMyAirpaq and introducing you to two of our team members who work on your Airpaq every day with heart and expertise.
Mariuca – our sewing supervisor
Mariuca has been part of the Airpaq team since 2017. She was there from the very beginning and now heads production. Quality assurance, new product ideas, and even accessories like bow ties or pencil cases made from airbag fabric – Mariuca brings together creativity and experience. "I love telling my friends about our idea," she says. She's indispensable to us.
Florin – our airbag expert
Florin has been working with us since 2018 and is responsible for cutting out the airbags in our sewing department. He uses a laser machine to precisely process the recycled material – and regularly brings in creative decorating ideas. His feedback is important to us: "I think it's great how closely involved we are in product development."
Responsibility even in times of crisis: Our Corona era
While many fashion companies canceled orders during the pandemic, we consciously maintained our sewing workshop . With protective measures, social distancing, and hygiene rules in place, we continued production – and also manufactured face masks to help others. Because for us, responsibility means being there for each other, even in difficult times.
Fair production means: Growing together
Our seamstresses are not just employees – they are part of Airpaq . Their ideas are incorporated into new products, and their dedication makes our vision possible. We are proud of our team in Romania and grateful that we can work together towards a better future – fair, sustainable, and with genuine connection.
